Shabbat

More than Jews have kept Shabbat, Shabbat has kept the Jews. (Ahad Ha'am, Zionist poet)

Coming together in weekly observance and celebration not only adds meaning to our lives, but adds life to our shul.

Our doors are open to all who seek to worship, learn and serve the community.

We meet on two Friday nights per month--one is a traditional Kabbalat Shabbat, and one geared specifically for our youngest members: KIDdushat Shabbat. Both are short, warm services filled with song and story.

We meet every Shabbat morning beginning at 9:30am. Members and guests are encouraged to participate in the service through leading a portion of the davening, having an aliya, or reading an English prayer. Following the service, we love to schmooze with one another and share a l'chaim over lunch!

Kabbalat Erev Shabbat Service  6:00 PM

Shabbat Morning 9:30 AM followed by a Kiddush Lunch.

Purim

Purim was a great hit!  Click here for more pictures.  Plan to attend for next year:   Monday, March 9/20.

Sale of Chametz 2019/5779

Rather that eat all one's Chametz or burn it before Pesach, it is possible to sell the Chametz in your house to a non-Jew.  If s/he so wishes, s/he is entitled to come and collect it; and were this to happen, you would be amply recompensed after Yom Tov.  Normally, all the community's Chametz will be sold centrally.

Please fill in the form below.

This form must be signed and returned to Rabbi Polansky by April 17, 2019.

If you are not logged into your Beth Israelaccount, you must provide the physical address where the Chametz included in this sale is located. This contract is invalid without this information.

In case Rabbi Polansky needs to contact you.

I, the undersigned, fully empower and permit Rabbi Erin Polansky to act in my place and stead, and in my place to sell all chametz possessed by me as defined by Torah and Rabbinic law. Rabbi Polansky is also empowered and permitted to lease all places wherein the chametz owned by me may be found.

Rabbi Polansky has the full right to sell and lease by transactions, as she deems fit and proper, for such time which she believes necessary.

Also do I hereby give the said Rabbi Erin Polansky full power and authority to appoint a substitute in her stead with full power to sell and lease as provided herein. The above given power is in conformity with all Torah and Rabbinical laws and regulations, and also in accordance with the laws of the State of Connecticut and of the United States.

This box must be checked in order to execute this contract.

By entering my printed name I acknowledge that electronic signatures have the same legal effect as ink signatures.

It is traditional to make a contribution when selling Chametz to help provide Matzah for those who cannot afford it. You are not obligated to contribute, and any amount is welcome.
