2020-2021 Bader-Elkin Talmud Torah Covid-19 Covenant
As a community, we recognize that we all have a responsibility to one another to keep each other safe and to help us provide our children with a quality Jewish education.
Beth Israel Talmud Torah hereby undertakes to put all safety measures into place such as: regular sanitization of common areas and high touch surfaces, spacing of desks 2 metres apart, reducing class groupings to 5-8 students, maintaining a safe physical distance between students and teachers at all time, requiring all participants in school to wear masks, and prohibiting visitors from entering the building during school time. Furthermore, Sunday class time has been reduced to two hours (3-5pm), snacks will not be served, and singing will not occur except online. Drop-off and pick-up of students will be contactless, and students will exit the building to join their parents safely.
In the event of a Covid-19 exposure by any of our students or staff, we will take our direction from KFL&A public health as to length of shut-down and quarantining. In the event of an outbreak in the community, we undertake to shift our programming to a hybrid (in-person/online) model should the KFL&A region’s alert level shift to yellow; and we will transition to a fully online model should the designation change to orange and/or red. (See
https://www.kflaph.ca/en/healthy-living/status-of-cases-in-kfla.aspx
for definition of “Overall Community Status” at bottom of page.)
Parents hereby undertake to abide by all the rules and guidelines set in place by Beth Israel. Parents will not send a sick child to school, nor will they send a child who has or might have come into contact with someone who needs to be in quarantine. Parents will instruct children regarding the necessity of maintaining safe physical distances, handwashing, and masking. Parents will inform the principal if their child has been instructed to quarantine by their day school or family doctor. Parents will provide basic supplies to be left at school which will not be shared with other students.
Both Parents and Beth Israel recognize that Covid-19 is a serious illness that is highly contagious and though everyone will take precautions and operate with the utmost level of care, community spread is still possible. We affirm that we are willing to take this risk and put our trust in one another to act in the most responsible and caring way for the safety and health of our entire community.
